If you use Yahoo! Finance online, you already know about its how-to articles, stock market tickers and graphs, calculators and business reports. Not all of these tools are available through the app, but the basics are.

You might have created a personalized portfolio of stocks to follow via Yahoo! If so, you’ll enjoy the fact you can access this portfolio through the app by entering your log-in ID and password. Tap to bring up the recent stock-price movement and related news articles. If you rotate the phone to landscape, you’ll see a graph of price history, which you can change to one-day, five-day, one-month, six-month, one- or two-year views. Just enter a symbol to look up any company’s stock and news.

Under Summary, you’ll find a snapshot of the major indices — Dow Jones, S&P 500, NASDAQ and 10-year bonds, complete with graphs of the day’s activity. Touch “Tech Ticker” to see the latest videos and articles from Yahoo! Finance. My only complaint about the app was the video playback, which sometimes hiccupped on my Nexus One.

It’s free, so Yahoo! Finance users shouldn’t think twice. Others might find enough here to check out the web site, as well.
