I love the fact that the app gets right to the point. The top left tab is “Report,” and, using your phone’s GPS, it displays all the ski destinations in your region. The results for my state of Massachusetts looked accurate. Tap into a location, and the app shows the depth of the snow base, in inches, and the amount of recent snowfall. A list shows how many of the lifts and trails are open. Below this, you can see recent first-hand accounts from skiers at that location. Or, you can quickly post your own comments.

For a wider search, touch the “Nearby” tab. In my case, the results included ski resorts in neighboring states Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Or, if you’re free to travel, check the “Powder” tab for the best up-to-the-minute powder ski conditions for the U.S. Logically, most of the powder listings come from out West in the Rockies and Sierras, but I won’t hold it against them.

Overall, the app feels like it could be useful during the ski season. Check it out.
