Parrot Review – Clean and Simple Audio

When an app needs to perform a purpose that is already fulfilled by other tools, the app needs to be exceptional at what it does. It can’t just strive to copy the tool, it needs to excel and provide a superior alternative. Parrot, an audio recording app with an incredibly simplistic, easy to use ascetic, does exactly this.

Interviewers and journalists are often in need of the ability to record clean audio with something easily accessible. Too often a separate device is required, a small little recorder you hold in your palm, forcing you to carry an additional piece of equipment, on top of your phone, your laptop or your tablet.

Now that Parrot is here, secondary devices will become a thing of the past. Interviewers are often hesitant to use mobile phone recorders for fear of poor sound or privacy concerns. With Parrot, you can cleanly, simply and easily record and output audio for whatever purpose you need. Not only that, but the audio is clear and precise, lacking any of the stereotypical scratchiness of cheap recording devices.

It is simple and easy to activate the recording, pause or end it and then name and save the file. This is quickly accessible and not at all complicated to understand.

If Parrot were simply just an audio recording app – and a free one at that – it would be perfectly fine. Since downloading it, I’ve already recorded over an hour of interviews, using the audio to dub over my camera as Parrot’s audio is simply better. However, Parrot offers the option to pay for a “Pro” version that adds some fantastic features.

Firstly, you can record any and all phonecalls made. This is extremely useful when wanting to record conversations with businesses or, perhaps more useful, when contacting business associates and desiring a record of the conversation. Previously, it was far too easy for someone to go back on what was said during a phone conversation. Now, without any unnecessary faffing or complicated apps, you can easily record any phone conversation you’re ever likely to have.

The second useful feature offered by the pro membership is the ability to schedule recordings – this means you can designate the phone to record any audio during a specific time period. This could be used to record your sleep patterns at night, scheduled business meetings or even just if you want to hear what your phone is doing at any particular point in the day.

Alongside this, you can upload your recorded files (whether they be interviews, phone conversations or just secretive recordings of the afternoon’s meeting) to Dropbox or Google Drive.

Parrot is one of those rare apps that gets its monetization completely right; it is an absolutely fantastic, complete app just as the free version, but you can upgrade to a pro version if you want the extra features. Anyone hoping to use this app for a variety of purposes – especially in business – should not hesitate to get the pro version.

If you’re looking for an excellent app to cleanly record audio, then you should immediately get Parrot as soon as possible.
