While there are lots and lots of recipes apps in the Android marketplace that include a variety of different kinds of meals, Omaha sticks to what it knows: everything steak. And I mean everything.

The app features hundreds of different red-meat inclusive recipes, a timer-so you don’t overcook or undercook your meal, food prep and cooking tips, how-to videos, steak facts and even a “connect” area where beef enthusiasts can spread the love with friends via their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The neatest feature of all of these, in my opinion, is the timer. Users have the option to set as many different timers as they like. This way, they can easily cater to the individual needs of each guest at their barbecue or dinner party.

Because Omaha is a brand name, of course, this app gives users quick access to a store where they can order meat. It’s listed under a tab called “shopping list,” which initially gave me the impression I would have the option to list the items I need to pick up from the grocery store.

The app is well-organized and you can easily “favorite” the recipes you like, which means you won’t spend precious time trying to navigate your way through Omaha. Everything is exactly where it should be.

Omaha doesn’t win first prize in design in my book, but it isn’t to be written off entirely. It’s not flashy or colorful, but it is very practical, and there’s no shame in that.
