It seems there is a birth more anticipated than Jay-Z and Beyonce’s baby – at least for techies and tablet users. Despite the fact that Amazon has yet to announce the conception of its own Android tablet device, an analyst with Forrester has already predicted the device could sell 3 million to 5 million units in just the fourth quarter. By comparison, there were 3.27 million iPad units sold in the first quarter.

Sarah Rotman Epps of Forrester has predicted that the yet-to-be-announced tablet will disturb “not only Apple’s product strategy but other tablet manufacturers’ as well” if its price is right and supply is able to keep up with hotly-anticipated demand. Rotman Epps said the ideal price to help the Amazon 9-inch LCD touchscreen tablet outpace the iPad would be $299. According to Forrester, the Amazon tablet could be sold so cheaply because the company can also profit from selling goods and services on the device, as it does with its Kindle e-reader.

The device is rumored to be introduced in October, which would be a great boon for the Android tablet app market. There are currently less than 500 apps optimized for Android tablets, compared with more than 100,000 apps built specifically for the iPad.

But as the Amazon tablet currently remains as mythical as how Beyonce will fit into her spandex and sparkle-filled wardrobe during a pregnancy, plenty of ifs remain in Forrester’s prediction. First of all, the price seems low considering the Kindle originally cost $399 in 2007 – and was gradually brought down over time. Additionally, the online retailer has struggled with supply issues in the past, particularly concerning the Kindle.

While pop culture fans anticipate discovering whether Beyonce’s baby girl or boy really does run the world, tablet users and tablet makers such as Apple will eagerly prepare to find out if Amazon will have similar domination in the tablet computer market.
