Fresh Android Apps for Oct. 18: U.S. Bank, Remember the Milk update, Clouds & Sheep

by Ian Black

In today’s fresh Android apps, deposit checks with U.S. Bank, manage your grocery list using Remember The Milk or herd a digital flock in Clouds & Sheep.

U.S. Bank (Free)

Banking appears to be one of the hottest categories for mobile apps, and now U.S. Bank customers get to feel some love.

Gain all access to your accounts including the ability to transfer money between them, view your recent transactions, locate ATMs near you, and pay bills. My favorite feature – and I wish my bank had this – lets you deposit checks through the app by snapping photos of the front and back with your phone’s camera.

If you don’t yet use Internet Banking with U.S. Bank, you’ll need to sign-up for an online user ID and password.

Remember The Milk update (Free)

This task management service just delivered a big update to their Android app.

Expect a completely new UI based on a dashboard of tasks. This update also allows you to check multiple tasks in a list and act on them all at once, like postponing, deleting or changing the due date. Additionally, a whole series of widgets show you tasks by location, allow you to enter new tasks without opening the app, create tasks by voice, and more.

A Pro version of the app includes the ability to sync tasks across the Web to other devices.

Clouds & Sheep (Free)

Need a little time out of mind? Go herd some sheep on your Android.

Take charge of a friendly flock. Sure, you must cover the basics like feeding them, but things get a little more complicated quickly. You must manage the weather, for example, and ensure the sheep enjoy themselves.

Unfortunately, sheep aren’t the brightest bulbs in the barn and will stand in the rain until they catch cold, or in the sun until heat stroke strikes. They will also eat poisonous mushrooms in the field.

Happy and healthy sheep provide you with 'Happy Points' that you can use to buy stuff that makes sheepherding easier.
