APPOLICIOUS ADVISOR RATING:

4 of 5 bars
  • PRICE: Free
  • TASTY: Clean, efficient visual style makes finding posts easy.
  • BUMMER: A little too simple, without a lot of features; opens a browser to read posts.
  • COOL: A newspaper feel for your RSS feeds.

HoneyReader aggregates RSS feeds into an easy-to-read pile. The app tunes them for tablet consumption by making a newspaper-style set of columns that you can navigate with simple flicks of a finger.

The app syncs to the feeds in your Google Reader account and then puts each set of related feeds into columns. They stack up neatly on a tablet screen and flicking a finger up or down scrolls through the news posts. Tap again and you can pull up a summary of the post, then jump into a browser and read the original.

The clean and efficient interface makes it easy to find the posts you want to read, and HoneyReader lets you favorite and share posts. It’s best for users who feel Google Reader isn’t quite clean enough, and is more tablet-optimized than Google’s app.
