There is a lot of summer reading in today’s fresh Android apps. DC Comics delivers the funny books to your phone and The Economist app brings you back to serious. When you’re hungry launch GrubHub Food Delivery, and when it’s time to play try Baseball Superstars II.
DC Comics (Free)
I love digital comics, although they may spell doom for comic book stores everywhere. Comics are the next wave of “why do we print and ship these things all the time when it would be much cheaper to sell them digitally” movement that first took down the music and then the book and newspaper industries.
DC Comics partnered with the comiXology app creators to create this new app that turns your Android into a DC Comics store. Purchase and download current and older comics from the DC archives and read them right over your phone and tablet. The panels zoom in automatically for easier reading. DC plans to upload more than 80 new comics per month and more than 1000 per year.
GrubHub Food Delivery Update (Free)
This update brings personalized search that saves your searches and allows you to refine search results, while also supporting services like saving credit card information, easy reordering, better performance, and Honeycomb-specific functionality.
The Economist (Free)
Get smart by reading this high-profile economic news and analysis magazine over your Android device. Without a subscription, you get access to a weekly selection of “editor’s highlights” from the current print issue of the mag. If you have a digital or print subscription to The Economist, you gain full access to the articles right through this app.
Additionally the app lets you purchase single issues that you can download to your device and read offline. Switch from reading to listening by taking advantage of the audio narration of the content.
Baseball Superstars II (Free)
Updated My League and Season modes let you play in story format while also playing in “events.” The addition of super skills allows you to customize pitching style and batting effects. This version also adds six new players, an enhanced player POV, and an improved AI.
