Fresh Android Apps for June 29: Google+, Beer Pong HD, Wizard Rush

by Caitlin M. Foyt

Today in Fresh Apps, the new and exclusive Google+ makes its debut on Android. Also, embark on a wizardly adventure and play an old-fashioned game of beer pong with your friends.

Google+ (Free)

Maybe you’ve heard a little bit about Google's answer to Facebook, Google+? At its core, Google+ is a social network, allowing users to share photos, videos, links or their location with friends.

Google+ for mobile instantly uploads the photos and videos you take into a private album in the cloud, so you can share them anytime, from anywhere. The stream also lets you stay in the loop about what your friends are sharing and where they’re checking in.

Google+ (Google Plus) is still under development and, unfortunately, isn’t yet available to everyone. To use this app, you'll need a special invitation to sign-in.

Beer Pong HD (Free)

Who would have thought that it could ever be possible to play beer pong on your phone? The experience sounds like it’s about as authentic as it can get without actual alcohol, including a drunk goggles effect and ability to trash talk with your opponents, for instance.

The game plays according to the official rules used in the World Series of Beer Pong with three different levels of difficulty and three different cup set-ups to choose from. Tossing balls across the table is as simple as pulling, aiming and shooting, just like how you play Angry Birds. For a more social experience, play it with friends and share your high scores on the OpenFeint online leader boards.

Wizard Rush (Free)

As a gifted young wizard enrolled at a school of witchcraft and wizardry, you are being chased through a world of mazes by a dark, evil force. A running game with a twist, you have to keep moving and know exactly when to flip the gravity in the game. There’s also a bunch of stars you have to pick up along the way.

To keep things interesting, the game has three different worlds, each with 15 levels, and there are many more to come.
