Android App Video Review: HowStuffWorks

by Andrew Koziara

I’ve always been fond of HowStuffWorks, and have enjoyed watching them grow over the years. They always treat you with bits of information that you didn’t even realize you were curious about, and definitely make you feel smart when you explain things you’ve learned to your befuddled friends. So how does the official HowStuffWorks app hold up?

Quite well actually! The app is very well laid out, and it’s easy to find whatever you might be looking for. Things are divided up into categories, and there is a search function if you are looking for something specific. You can go into the featured section to find whatever is popular these days, or you can go by category. All the podcasts and video podcasts are here, and fully accessible, as are dozens and dozens of written articles. Whether you’re looking to expand your knowledge of cars or push yourself one step closer to wearing tin foil hats with conspiracy theories, there is something for everyone. I also really enjoy the random facts/quotes that you can scroll through one at a time. I actually lost track of time reading them, which was really unexpected.

The app allows you to customize font size, which is always a nice feature. You can also access the Facebook and Twitter accounts of HowStuffWorks. After all these years, if you haven’t come across HowStuffWorks at some point, definitely check them out. If you are already a fan, then there is no harm in picking the app up, as it is entirely free. Check it out.
