Check out appoLearning.com, because your kids deserve the very best educational apps!
1. Tell us about yourself - where you live, your job, things you like to do.
Where to start . . . I'm originally from a tiny town in Upstate New York, but I moved to New York City five years ago to get my master’s degree in acting. These days, I'm a museum educator by day and a theatre person by night. I love to cook, especially ethnic cuisine (current obsessions include Indian and Afghan food!), and I focus on trying to make delicious healthy versions of things at home.
2. Which Android device or devices do you own? Why did you choose Android? How do you customize your device?
I own a Droid 2 Global. I became a Droid junkie by association. My partner got the original Droid when it first came out, and I immediately began to lust after it (and steal it away to mess with it on my own whenever I could). I also admit to being a little attached to a physical keyboard, which is what made me choose the Global.
3. Do you root or not?
I don't -- yet! I'm still building my technical prowess/comfort level, so once I feel more proficient, I do plan to root.
4. Is there a particular category of apps that interest you the most?
It's impossible to keep tabs on anyone in this city, so I rely a lot on social networking. And beyond that, foodie apps! Everything from restaurant apps such as Yelp and Urbanspoon, to apps that let you order food without even having to call anyone like SeamlessWeb and GrubHub, to apps that help me manage my diet and nutrition like Calorie Counter by FatSecret and SparkRecipes.
Google Maps – Never get lost again.
HopStop - I take the subway an average of 3-4 times a day, and this app saves me so much time and stress
Twitter - I feel like this one is self explanatory!
Abduction! – Everyone needs a fun game to de-stress and pass the time, and this one has a bouncing cow, which immediately makes it appealing to me.
6. What apps are popular among your colleagues and friends?
7. Give an example of a time an app was truly useful to you.
I was born with little-to-no natural sense of direction, and as a freelancer juggling a lot of gigs, I travel all day every day. The only reason I'm ever able to show up in the right place and on time for anything is Google Maps.
8. What other AndroidApps.com member do you admire the most and why?
I really like GirlGoneGeek's reviews and lists. I'm sort of a late bloomer when it comes to loving and using technology, and I find that her reviews are super helpful in bridging the gap.
9. Do you have a Twitter account you’d like to share?
You can follow me on Twitter at jelagasse.
10. Anything else you'd like to share with the Appolicious audience?
You don't have to be a techie wizard to utilize and love your Droid (I'm definitely not!), so don't stress about it! Just jump in there and have some fun, and you'll get the hang of it.
