Fresh Android Apps for Apr. 13: Mozy, ScratchMaster, Fluid Monkey

by Ian Black

Access your backup with Mozy, start a fire on the dance floor with ScratchMaster, and meditate away your stress with Fluid Monkey.

Mozy (Free)

Mozy is a popular automated backup system that copies your PC content up to the “cloud” for safekeeping.  Now the company has delivered an app for your Android phone.

Use this app to access your files right from your phone. For photos, you’ll see thumbnails and have access to previews. For files, you can drill down into folders and browse. You can also send files from the service to family and friends.

ScratchMaster (Free)

Feel the call of the dance floor?

ScratchMaster Pro lets you play DJ right over your phone. A revolving old-school turntable sets the mood. Import your own MP3s or use the phone’s microphone to record any sound. Then adjust the pitch just like you would on a real DJ deck.

Two sample packs of tunes will help you get started.

Fluid Monkey (Free)

Phones are so much about getting things done and staying in touch that it’s fun when an app developer goes in the opposite direction.

Fluid Monkey turns your Android into a gooey Zen garden of sorts. Touch and drag through the different scenarios just to watch what happens. Scenes include “Ink in Water,” “Finger-Painting,” “Milky Way,” “Thick Paint,” “Gelatin,” “Oil Paint,” “Wet Mud” and “Bowl of Paint.”

Launch it and get nothing done.
