Fresh Android Apps for Apr. 12: Meet the Press, Livio Car Internet Radio, Snow Dice: Snowboarding

by Ian Black

Think the Android Market is filled with only silly apps? Think again. Meet the Press delivers a new way to engage with the show to your phone, Livio Car Internet Radio takes over your car stereo, and Snow Dice: Snowboarding brings random to your run.

Meet the Press (Free)

Get extras from the top-rated Sunday morning TV show on politics with this app.

The description says that Meet the Press has been running for over 60 years and that every president after (and including) JFK has appeared on the show. This app provides a mid-week update on who will be appearing on Sunday, tweets from the host and producers, and answers to viewers’ questions that aren’t aired on the show.

Livio Car Internet Radio ($4.99)

Let’s say it out loud – your Android phone is smarter than your car’s dashboard. Why not take advantage of its big brain?

Specifically designed for use in a car, Livio Car Internet Radio provides access to over 45,000 from the RadioTime directory. Expect big buttons in both portrait and landscape modes; station search based on location, keyword, or call letters; customizable pre-sets; and the ability to share your selections over your usual social networking suspects.

Snow Dice: Snowboarding ($0.99)

Here’s a neat idea. Never struggle to figure out what tricks you and your buddies will do on your next snowboard run. Your Android’s snowboard dice will tell you what to do instead.

Roll the virtual dice by pressing the button and the app will tell you what tricks, holds, and rotations to make on your next run by random selections. Use the settings to adjust the min and max rotations or choose whether tricks or holds can repeat in a single run.
