Fresh Android Apps for Mar. 24: Firefox 4.0, Petanqistics, Nonprofit Social

by Ian Black

Download a new web browser (Firefox 4.0), track your French outdoor bowling game (Petanqistics), or maximize your non-profit (Nonprofit Social).

Mozilla Firefox Web Browser (Free)

The mobile browser wars continue.

After a beta, this app marks the release candidate for Mozilla Firefox 4.0 for Android. The browser puts the Web front and center by moving all controls off screen. Swipe your active tabs in from the right and then step through them. Or, swipe down from the top and display Firefox’s “Awesome” screen, which allows access to your bookmarks, preferences, and more.

Perhaps best of all, Firefox synchronizes between the desktop version of the browser and this mobile version so you can pick up with your phone just where you left off on your desktop and vice versa.

Petanqistics (Free)

It’s Spring! Think sand, sun, and outdoor bowling.

Pentanque is the old French yard or beach bowling game of which there are as many variations as there are countries – Bocce Ball for Italians for example. This app lets your track Pentanque Statistics or Pentanqistics.

With a couple of taps, you can track your current game with up to eight players. Later, use the analysis to find your own strengths and weaknesses.

Nonprofit Social (Free)

Use your powers for good. This app focuses the power of a social network on assisting non-profits in social media and marketing.

View the video and articles on leveraging YouTube for raising awareness of your non-profit or strategies for Word of Mouth marketing campaigns. Find tips, techniques, and useful contacts for your business.

Have some ideas of your own to share? Join the network and post your own content.
