Fresh Android Apps for Mar. 14: Planzai, Chef Marisol, Last.FM update

by Ian Black

In today’s fresh apps, Planzai lets you use social networking for project management, Chef Marisol tells you what’s for dinner, and Last.FM streams your favorite tunes.

Planzai (Free)

Social networking concepts are getting used for all kinds of stuff. Why not project planning?

Planzai aims for those with expertise to share knowledge for mutual benefit. In this early beta of the service and app, you can get in on the beginning. Right at the moment, Planzai staffers are attending SXSW (The South by Southwest Conference for Music) so you’ll find “blueprints” (aka project plans) related to the indie music biz. You’ll find plans, contacts, and feedback from those using the service.

Chef Marisol (Free)

What’s the next frontier for celebrity chefs? Android apps!

Chef Marisol is, among other highlights, the queen of cooking courses on the high seas, where she works for a major cruise line. This app delivers her charismatic cooking expertise to your phone. You’ll find recipes of her culinary creations, videos where you can watch her make them, tips from her cruise course and more.

See what all the fun is about.

Last.FM update (Free)

This update to the Last.FM music player adds support scrobbling from Honeycomb-based Android tablets.

For the uninitiated, Last.FM coined the phrase “scrobbling” for the feature of capturing and sharing the music you play over your social networks. Last.FM was an early, and still relevant, music streaming service that lets you create your own “channels” based on your music tastes.

This Android app allows you to sync your Last.FM friends with your phone’s contacts.
