Fresh Android Apps for Feb. 15: London Philharmonic Orchestra, PigeonHole, Fireplace

by Ian Black

Did you survive Valentine’s Day? Chill out with music from the London Philharmonic Orchestra or by a warm virtual fire with Fireplace. For the rare times, when you have to leave your Android behind, check out the handy PigeonHole.

London Philharmonic Orchestra (Free)

Got classical? The legendary London Philharmonic Orchestra goes Android with this all-access app. Read the up-to-date blogs from the orchestra, listen to music, or watch video of performances.

The London Philharmonic regular releases new CDs and here you can hear tracks and read reviews. A one time free registration with InstantEncore is required.

PigeonHole (~$0.77)

Does your job require you to leave your phone behind? No worries. This app forwards your text messages and your call logs as an email. Configure up to 10 recipients and specify the level of detail you’d like to forward.

The app runs in the background but requires access to the Internet via your cell-phone signal or Wi-Fi. PigeonHole claims it keeps no records and thus your information remains private.

Fireplace ($0.99)

You’ve heard of the Yule Log DVDs and PC apps? Here’s one for your Android. This app isn’t anything fancy, it just displays a crackling fire. Great for trying to think about warmer times in the dead of winter. Use it in your car, office, or on family outings, or let your kids use it inside their forts or when backyard camping.
