Fresh Android Apps for Feb. 7: The New Baby, BoardTabla (Beta), Graph It!

by Ian Black

Today’s fresh apps are here to help. The New Baby will help keep your kids occupied. BoardTabla assists you in capturing the output of your latest meeting. And, Graph It! shows you the results of complex equations.

The New Baby ($1.99)

Need to entertain the youngsters while you’re out and about? Mercer Mayer’s Little Critter picture books are great in any form. In this app, her book, The New Baby, can be read in several modes. "Read To Me" reads the book aloud with highlighted text. "AutoPlay" turns pages for you and plays it like a movie. And, of course, you can read it like a regular book. The app also includes a search-and-find mini-game.

BoardTabla (Beta) (Free)

Lots of people take pictures of whiteboards with their smartphones. BoardTabla takes this practice to the next level. Snap the image and let the app automatically crop unneeded white space. Taking notes? Annotate your images with freehand text. You can also draw connections between images, adjust white balance, and then share all you’ve captured with others.

Graph It! ($1.99)

Need some graphing assistance? This app allows you to quickly input equations and then see the results graphed in full-screen mode. Supported operations include natural log, exponents, sin, cos, tangent, and their inverses, and more. Overlay more than one graph and alter the colors to differentiate them. Save graphs for later or edit ones you’ve already saved.
