Fresh Android Apps for Feb. 3: Translatr Pro, TextBusy, Text Monkey

by Ian Black

Text messaging is now fairly old technology but you can’t argue with its usefulness or relevance. Two fresh apps add functionality to this standard feature of cell phones. TextBusy forwards SMS messages to email while Text Monkey lets you schedule text messages for the future. Finally, Translate Pro allows you to translate on-the-fly over your Android.

Translate Pro (Free)

Get proficient in foreign countries. Translate Pro translates words, phrases, or full sentences back and forth between 58 languages. Once translated, you can edit a phrase and then reverse the translation back to the starting language.

Helpfully, the app lets you translate directly to email or text message. And, it integrates with Facebook, Twitter, and Evernote.

TextBusy (Free)

Ever want to get your text messages in an email? Enter TextBusy. The app forwards all the SMS you receive directly to your Gmail account.

If you have two phones – personal and business – you could use it track personal text messages while your non-work phone is at home. Or visa versa, if you are expecting important work texts while off-duty.

Text Monkey (~$1.61)

Want to send a text in the future? Text Monkey lets you write and schedule a text message for future delivery. Maybe you want to send a reminder or queue up an important text so you don’t forget, for example.

The app integrates into Android’s notification bar and your Messaging "sent" folder so you can track the scheduled messages before and after it has been delivered.
