Fresh Android Apps for Nov. 30: Southwest Airlines, Postcards From Santa

by Caitlin M. Foyt

Today's Fresh Android apps introduces one from a major airline and another that will send your family magical holiday postcards.

Southwest Airlines (Android) FREE

Southwest Airlines now has its very own application for Android. Unlike other airline travel apps out there, Southwest allows you to actually purchase your flights from within the app rather than being re-directed to the airline’s browser-based site. In addition to booking flights and managing those reservations, you can also use the app to check on the status of your flight, check-in, review flight schedules and add or manage rental cars. It also gives you direct access to your Rapid Rewards account.

Postcards From Santa (Android) FREE

Kids write letters to Santa Claus every year, but seldom do they ever receive any kind of message in return. The Postcards From Santa app gives parents or guardians the means to reply to these letters. Choose from one of five different Santa Claus pictures, type in the name and address of their child and then either craft a personal message or choose from a template. The app is free, but the postcards cost $1.99 each, including printing and postage. It takes 3-5 days for a postcard to be delivered within the U.S. and Canada and 5-14 days for the rest of the world.
