Fresh Android Apps for Nov: 23: NOOK update, Smart Photo Frame, Twitter Followers

by Caitlin M. Foyt

Today's Fresh Android apps features an eReader update, a moving picture frame and an easy way for you to keep tabs on how many people subscribe to your thoughts.

NOOK for Android by B&N (Android)

Barnes & Noble has just made an update to its NOOK eReader, adding a couple of new features as well as some performance optimizations. New features include the ability to stay in sync across multiple devices (including iPad, iPhone/iPod touch, Android smartphones and PC), improved organizational capabilities and improved security measures. The new "stay in sync" feature automatically syncs the last page read with the Nook and Nook apps and the "My Shelves" feature lets users organize their eBooks onto virtual bookshelves for their own take on the Dewey Decimal System. Barnes & Noble is also claiming that search functionality has improved and that NOOK has the ability to turn pages more quickly. NOOK version 1.5 software is available at no cost to all current and new NOOK owners.

Smart Photo Frame (Android) FREE

Smart Photo Frame for your Android phone is designed to bring life to your memories. It works just like a digital picture frame does, displaying some of your favorite photos. Select the photos you'd like to flash on the screen, choose the slide speed control, and decide if you would like the date the photo was taken to display.

Twitter Followers (Android) FREE

Keep track of your Twitter count from your phone's home screen. Twitter Followers is a free widget that updates every six hours with any changes to the status of your account. This sounds like it will be especially useful to those who are being mindful of how many people they reach on a regular basis, but stick to using apps like Tweetdeck, which don't detail this kind of information. You can also keep tabs on other Twitter users' followers by having as many widgets on your home screen as you like.
