New Android apps worth downloading: Flipagram, Knightmare Tower, RAVENMARK: Mercenaries

by Andrew Koziara

Today brings us a cool new photo sharing app, and two very cool new games that I'm super hyped for. Flipagram lets you create stories out of those vacation photos, with your own soundtrack and everything, before sharing them with the world. Knightmare Tower is a brilliant, colorful, addicting arcade game, and RAVENMARK: Mercenaries is a brilliant, deep, complex turn based strategy game, and I'm so happy they both have Android releases now.

Flipagram (Free)

What’s it about? Flipagram lets your create short stories using photos and music on your device.Flipagram1

What’s cool? This isn't the first app to come along and let you create collages and slideshows out of your vacation photos to tell stories, but it's a darn good one. Using moments or photos from your gallery or Instagram, you'll sort them into various layouts, add titles, background music, set the timing and other kinds of edits, and then share your creations to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and more. There are plenty of other settings and options to tweak here too. The app has  a really slick and intuitive interface, and looks very professional in general.

Who’s it for? People who love sharing their photos in creative and unique ways.

What’s it like? Diptic and Photo Grid - Collage Maker are similar apps.

Knightmare Tower (Free)

What’s it about? Knightmare Tower is a brilliant arcade style survival game which has you violently climbing a tower and saving princesses.

What’s cool? From the creators of Burrito Bison, the popular Flash Game, Knightmare Tower is one of the most enjoyable and addictive games to come out this year. It's similar to an endless jumping game, likeKnightmareTower1Doodle Jump, but much more fluid, dynamic, and violent, as your platforms are actually cartoony garish monsters that need a good swording. With a campaign story mode and an endless survival mode, seventy quests to complete, plus loads of customization options and unlockables, a great soundtrack, and three epic optional bosses to summon and kill, this game will keep you hooked for days.

Who’s it for? I'm recommending it to everyone, but mostly people who like crazy arcade style games.

What’s it like? Doodle Jump I guess. You might also like SlamBots.

RAVENMARK: Mercenaries (Free)

What’s it about? A compelling and comprehensive turn based strategy game set in an epic fantasy war with a great backstory.

What’s cool? Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion was the first game in this series, and while it's notRavenmarkMercenaries1available on Android, it ushered in the brilliant turn based strategy mechanics that we now get to enjoy in this primarily multiplayer game. After choosing your faction, you'll raise your army, hiring new bands of mercenaries and soldiers, before taking them head to head against other players in the asynchronous multiplayer. The game is no slouch in the story department either, despite being multiplayer focused, set six years after the first game with plenty of reading material for curious players. There are in-app purchases, but there's no 'pay to win' garbage to be seen.

Who’s it for? Anyone and everyone who ever enjoyed a turn based strategy game.

What’s it like? Great Big War Game and Battle for Wesnoth will bring you more turn based fun.
