Space Voyager K,1,2 Math (Free)
What’s it about? Space Voyager helps kids learn early math skills by answering questions that help them navigate a rocket through various space locales.
What’s cool? Many kids find learning to be a little bit easier when they've got the incentive fof a game to help motivate them, and that's what Space Voyager is counting on with its math-based gameplay. The title introduces young kids to simple math questions, like 1+2 or 5-3, and answering the questions correctly allows kids to continue exploring space in their own rocket. Questions are solved when kids fly their ship through the right, number-marked ring, and they can unlock new ships by spending the energy they accumulate from right answers. Questions also get tougher and more elaborate as kids increase their skill levels.
Who’s it for? Space Voyager is specifically aimed at kids in Kindergarten and first and second grades.
9 Lives: Casey and Sphynx ($2.99)
What’s it about? Action-adventure puzzle game 9 Lives pairs museum security guard Casey and Sphynx, an Egyptian cat, together as they work through a series of puzzles that often require one of them to die in order to solve them.
What’s cool? Casey and Sphynx have been cursed by the ancient Egyptian cat god Bestet, and in order to break the curse, they need to work their way through the museum currently holding a Bestet exhibit. That means solving a whole lot of puzzles as a duo, and players will control both characters in order to figure their way through each level's intricacies. The trouble is, sometimes, you'll have to die in order to find your way through a puzzle – but that's okay, Casey and Sphynx have nine lives with which to work, which means players can use Casey as a stepping stone over spikes and still make it through each puzzle. 9 Lives also supports cooperative play, in which two players each take on the role of one of the characters.
Who’s it for? Fans of interesting puzzles and cooperative play should give 9 Lives a look.
