The Pocket Scavenger ($4.99)
What’s it about? Encouraging creativity through challenges, The Pocket Scavenger sends users out to find and photograph different items, providing prompts that require you to add elements to your scavenged images along the way.
What’s cool? The Pocket Scavenger is a scavenger hunt for the mobile photographer, tasking you with prompts of items you need to seek out and shoot. When you find the item you're looking for – something from your birth year, for example, or “a stain that is green” – you'll receive another prompt to alter your photo in some way and add new elements. The idea is that The Pocket Scavenger encourages you to be creative in unexpected ways, and thereby forces you out of your normal way of thinking and to make new connections. You can upload your scavenges to The Pocket Scavenger's map so others can see what you're finding (and you can see what others are finding), or to social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
Who’s it for? If you like scavenger hunts and challenges that make you more creative, try The Pocket Scavenger.
Fraggle Friends Forever ($3.99)
What’s it about? Celebrating the 30th anniversary of “Fraggle Rock,” the newly released Fraggle Friends Forever brings back into the Fraggles' world with an interactive storybook.
What’s cool? Fraggle Friends Forever is primarily a storybook app that lets kids read along with the story and which accommodates their reading level. The app can allow kids to read it themselves, provide professional narration to read to them, or let kids read and play learning games scattered throughout the story as they go. There's also a coloring book section that makes use of touchscreen technology, and a “grown-ups corner” section that provides some thoughtful questions about the story to encourage kids' reading comprehension.
Who’s it for? Fraggle Friends Forever is great for kids who are just learning to read or a little younger.
Blitz Brigade (Free)
What’s it about? Class-based first-person shooter lets as many as 12 players face off in online multiplayer battles.
What’s cool? Taking a page from the super-popular Team Fortress 2 on PC, Blitz Brigade lets players face off in 12-player battles over their mobile devices’ Internet connections. The game is a first-person shooter with cartoonish graphics and high-energy battles, with players choosing one of five classes and taking on members of the opposing team. Blitz Brigade also lets you pilot vehicles and bring them into your battles, and you’ll have more than 100 weapons to use against your opponents.
Who’s it for? Fans of FPS gameplay, online multiplayer action and Team Fortress 2 should check out Blitz Brigade.
