Check out appoLearning.com, because your kids deserve the very best educational apps!
Leading today’s Fresh Apps is Kiip which offers you rewards for playing games and earning achievements. You’ll be able to manage your account and get updates using the company’s new Android app. Next up is the intriguing My Life as a Refugee, an app from UNHCR which hopes to raise public awareness about the plight of refugees. Finally, we’ve got Icy Joe Extreme Jump, a fun and freezing jumping/platformer with plenty of action and mini-games to keep you amused.
Kiip is another app that offers you rewards simply for doing things you love (though it’s never that simple, of course). Whereas Viggle (which we featured here at the end of June) nets you free stuff for watching TV, Kiip performs a similar function, but this time by playing games and earning achievements.
Kiip lets you manage your Kiip rewards from your Android device and offers exclusive updates for new rewards and info on the latest Kiip-enabled games you can play. You can also manage your profile or boast about the cool rewards you’ve received via Facebook or Twitter.
My Life as a Refugee (Free)
While it might sound a little unusual to base a game on the plight of refugees, this newish app from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) was released to raise public awareness about the issues that they face.
Players must make a series of tough decisions while playing these true-to-life quests to survive, reaching safety and reuniting with loved ones so they can rebuild their lives. The app focuses on three stories featuring characters separated from their families while fleeing persecution or armed conflict.
Icy Joe Extreme Jump (Free)
Icy Joe Extreme Jump is a smashing jumping/platformer with a frost-bitten look and feel. You control our hero, Icy Joe, as he jumps on platforms higher and higher, smashing birds and unlocking new characters (like a bear with a hammer, naturally).
As the water rises, you’ll need to continue onwards and upwards, through caves, clouds and Arctic glaciers. To keep things interesting, there are a few mini-games to enjoy and two distinct game modes. Icy Joe is worth a look as it mixes the best bits of endless jumpers like Doodle Jump with old-school platformers.
