Fresh Android Apps for July 20: Paragon NTFS & HFS+, truTV2GO, Red Bull X-Fighters 2012 Free

by Marty Gabel

End the week with our daily Fresh Apps selection! Paragon could be highly useful for rooted Android users with multiple machines who don’t want incompatibility issues when copying/transferring files. truTV2GO is a little more straightforward, offering access to the network’s vast catalog of “actuality” TV shows and video clips. Finally, we have a game to take you into the weekend: Red Bull X-Fighters 2012 is perfect for adrenalin junkies and motocross enthusiasts.

Paragon NTFS & HFS+ Beta (Free)

Here’s a unique new app which is a little technical to explain, but could prove very useful. It’s just been released as a Beta version, so the developers are looking for feedback. More importantly, it only runs on rooted devices currently.

Essentially, if you want to use SD cards in your device, they need to be FAT32 formatted so they can be read by both Macs and PCs. Paragon eliminates this inconvenience because it lets you access data on both NTFS and HFS+ volumes. This is an app that could be very useful for people who like to copy or transfer files across multiple devices and systems.

truTV2GO (Free)

I’m pretty sure there was already a truTV app, but here’s a new, official offering from the Turner TV cable network which broadcasts real-life “actuality” shows 24/7. If you’re a fan of the station, this app will let you catch up with all your favorites on your handheld Android device.

The app streams the most outrageous video clips updated daily as well as full episodes of shows like Operation Repo, Hardcore Pawn, World’s Dumbest and South Beach Tow, so long as you log-in via your supported cable provider. There’s also social chatter and a schedule where you can set reminders to watch your favorite shows.

Red Bull X-Fighters 2012 Free (Free)

It’s a bit of a mouthful, but Red Bull X-Fighters 2012 is a fun freestyle motocross game for those who love high-octane action. You’ll need to impress the jury and crowd by performing jaw-dropping, gravity-defying tricks to fight your way to the title.

You perform tricks by using gesture controls onscreen, and the ‘Trickopedia’ lists them all for your reference. There are four action-packed game modes and the opportunity to join the 2012 world tour with six official stops. You can unlock clothes, tricks and bikes, and there’s a full achievement system and leaderboards.
