Fresh Android Apps for July 18: AutoRap, Evernote update, Whale Trail Frenzy

by Marty Gabel

Smule are the masters of auto-tune and hot on the heels of Songify and Magic Piano comes AutoRap, which turns your spoken words into a rap song. We also saw another significant update to Evernote, this time improving its tablet functionality and sharpening up an already-stellar app. For pleasure, check out Whale Trail Frenzy, a colorful and free endless running game with plenty of personality and cuteness.

AutoRap (Free)

Smule has done it again. The developer of hit apps like Magic Piano and Songify just introduced AutoRap into GooglePlay. It’s another fun, auto-tune musical app which is bound to make you feel like the next hip-hop megastar.

Simply talk into your Android device about whatever is on your mind – your favorite ice cream flavor, what your dog’s doing or what you’re eating for lunch – and hear your words instantly transformed into an amazing rap song. You can even enjoy freestyle beats and premium songs from artists like Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj.

Evernote update (Free)

Evernote, the popular note-taking and productivity app, gets regular updates which we’ve often featured in Fresh Apps. Today’s one is quite a significant because it extends Evernote’s reach and functionality, especially on tablets.

The update includes a redesigned tablet interface, including a sleek new home screen, with better swipe interaction to improve navigation through the app. Evernote for Android tablets now has a compact note list that shows everything you need at a glance. There are also other improvements for both smartphone and tablet users including sublists and improved slideshows.

Whale Trail Frenzy (Free)

The old Whale Trail (which led one of our Games of the Week early this year) has now become Whale Trail Classic and is still $1.99. But if you never got around to playing it, you can try out its follow-up instead: Whale Trail Frenzy. Even better, it’s free.

Willow the Whale returns and this time he’s brought his friends. In this endless runner (or ‘endless flyer’ more appropriately), you’ll guide Willow as he flies through the psychedelic skies, looping-the-loop, collecting bubbles and avoiding mean foes. There are numerous power-ups to collect and plenty of costumes to earn, plus a neat soundtrack from Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals.
