Fresh Android Apps for May 9: Lowe’s,, Monster Park, Tractor: Farm Driver

by Ian Black

The connections between retail stores and your Android device continue to grow. Now, your smartphone can help with home improvement projects using the fresh app from Lowe’s.

Desperate for a Mother’s Day meal deal? Try the new app. And, when it’s time for fun, check out Monster Park and Tractor: Farm Driver.

Lowe’s (Free)

Lowe’s continues their technology push with this fresh Android app.  Scope out home improvement projects by viewing inspiring room designs from Lowe’s experts, or read product reviews from the store’s customers.

You can also browse your own purchase history for easy re-ordering or look over the Home Profile you created via the Lowe’s website. Using a wish list feature, you can “note down” products you plan to buy or actually complete the purchase and mark it for in-store pickup or home delivery.

When do mobile apps shine brightest over the web? When you’re out and about. Everyone needs to eat, and figuring out where during a drive or a walk can be tricky. There are certainly a few apps in this category but here’s a fresh one for you.

This app hunts food deals around you. Most come in the form of a discount where you purchase a coupon worth more than you spent. The app lets you add more than one coupon to your cart and will save them for future use right on your Android. Forgo paper altogether by purchasing the coupons directly through the app and showing your phone to the restaurant staff when you pay.

Monster Park (Free)

You’ve heard of Monsters, Inc. Well, here the monsters do more play than work. Build a huge park and fill it with monsters and cute mythical creatures like unicorns. Then, decorate it to suit your tastes or perhaps consider what the monsters might like.

When you grow tired of watching them walk, run, fly and doddle around, set them up for cross breeding and see what new creatures you can create. Like FarmVille, you compete with other monster park builders to construct the biggest, best and fanciest destination. Others can tour your park and you theirs.

In-app purchases let you buy cool park accessories and food for your creature friends, but if you’re patient you might earn enough monster money in the game.

Tractor: Farm Driver (Free)

Finally! Beginning farm drivers don’t have to crash big trucks on real green acres; they can use this truck-driving simulator instead.

Practice first by parking, backing up, driving, loading and unloading various rigs in farm settings within this 3-D driving game. When you’re ready, switch to delivery mode and accept challenges transporting cargo to a pig farm, a cow shed, a sawmill and a dairy. There is a timer in this mode and the fastest time wins so drive like heck but don’t flip your truck.

Bring your high-end Android device and expect more levels coming soon.
