Samsung announces judges for $205,000 S Pen App Challenge

by Appolicious Announcement

Samsung this week announced the judges for the Galaxy Note S Pen App Challenge, which will award $205,000 in cash and prizes to developers creating the best apps specific to the revolutionary device.

The judges for the Galaxy Note S Pen App Challenge are as follows:

  • Phil Nickinson, Editor at AndroidCentral.com
  • Andy Wilson, VP of Consumer Marketing at AT&T
  • Jeff Tannenbaum, Investment Principal at BlueRun Ventures
  • Baudouin Corman, VP Publishing Americas at Gameloft
  • Kevin Packingham, SVP Product Innovation at Samsung Telecommunication America
  •

If you are not familiar with the Galaxy Note S Pen App Challenge, here’s how it works:

Developers interested in participating in the contest must use Samsung’s S Pen SDK 2.0.1. Developers of the best overall apps created for the S Pen, as well as best apps for games, media, sports, social, lifestyle, travel, education, productivity, entertainment and other categories will win cash and prizes.

The judges noted above will assess several attributes, including overall use and S Pen integration. Developers who participate will retain ownership of their titles as well as how they are marketed. Samsung does request that developers specify that participating apps indicate that they are “Made for the S Pen Galaxy Note” when marketing their apps. See the official rules and regulations for more information.

Developers can apply for the Samsung Galaxy Note S Pen Challenge here. Judging and public voting will occur between April 9 and April 16. The winners will be announced on or around April 20.
