Congratulations, you made it to Friday again! I bet you had the help of your Android device and a few fresh apps. Here’s a few more: Use Helicon Remote to pair your Android and your DSLR camera and, in games, play One Epic Game for over-the-top adventure and Ninja Chicken for the heartwarming tale of a farm animal assassin.
Enjoy your long Presidents Day weekend and I’ll meet you back here on Tuesday.
Helicon Remote (beta) (Free)
Photographers rejoice! Remote control of a camera is important for a couple of reasons. First, touching a camera directly when shooting certain long-exposure picture causes vibration that might blur or otherwise distort an image. Second, most DSLR screens remain small and a larger screen Android provides more space for looking through the viewfinder and controlling the camera functions.
This beta fills the gaps left by camera maker accessories and supports most of the recent Nikon and Canon DSLRs. Control automatic focus bracketing, advanced exposure bracketing, time lapse shooting, and more, all with full screen Live View.
One Epic Game (Free)
What would a truly epic game contain? Well, I think it would involve fighting zombies while aliens invaded the world in a post-apocalyptic future on a fantasy Earth! This game has all of that and also, inexplicably, brings World War II into the story.
Grab your favorite over-powered weapon and a jet pack, then run, jump, shoot and kill everything in your path. Race with side-scroller urgency through five worlds that have each “jumped the shark” in extinction events while capturing over 30 achievements. Sound epic enough for you?
Ninja Chicken (Free)
Now you control the masked chicken’s actions as she runs, jumps and ducks her way through 25 levels of dangerous adventure on her way to becoming a full-fledged ninja. Be warned: the chicken must pause every so often to lay an egg before continuing on but that’s ok because every ninja is a little chicken on the inside.
