Fresh Android Apps for Dec. 30: LipDub, GnarBike Trials Pro, Narde

by Ian Black

Try something new in the new year. LipDub takes your shower singing to new heights, GnarBike Trials Pro lets you drive where you’ve never driven before, and Narde makes you relearn backgammon.

Happy New Year! We’ll meet you back here on Tuesday.

LipDub (Free)

Feel like the next Internet sensation? The only thing missing from your portfolio might be an insanely popular lip-sync music video. LipDub to the rescue.

Pick an artist and track from the pop charts – including the likes of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, or Snoop Dog – then use the app to record a video of your performance, complete with soundtrack overlay. Send your creations out over Facebook, Twitter, or via email. Watch others LipDub songs through the app. Could you be the next star with one billion views?

GnarBike Trials Pro ($0.99)

Motorbike trials work differently from motorcycle racing. The object isn’t to run a racecourse as fast as you can, instead you must navigate a challenging track over difficult obstacles without wrecking.

Here you’ll face the trickiest tracks ever with curved slants of wood hanging from the wall, barrels, barbells, fire and other dangers. Build your own course with the editor and share it with your friends through the app. Expect realistic physics, interesting settings and fiery crashes.

Narde (Free)

Stretch your mind by learning a new game. Narde uses the same board as backgammon but features different rules and a new starting set up. Play against your Android device, another person or challengers on the Internet.

The app provides full support for tablets, two players on the same device and hints for those new to the game. Zoom-in on a section of the board or go full screen to see the whole board at once. Sound effects make you think you’re playing on a wooden board with real tiles.
