Fresh Android Apps for Dec. 8: FreeConference Mobile, SoundTracking, Swisscom Ski Challenge

by Ian Black

Here’s a way to quickly wrap up your business tasks before the holidays – a conference call. Schedule yours now with FreeConference Mobile.

Go public with your love for Hall and Oates with SoundTracking and ski fast without breaking your neck using Swisscom Ski Challenge 12.

FreeConference Mobile (Free)

Arranging spontaneous or regularly recurring conference calls has never been easier. Log-in with your existing FreeConference account info or register through the app. Then, schedule your conference, choose the length of the meeting, give it a subject heading and invite your attendees. They’ll receive text messages or email invitations complete with access code and PIN details.

When your call time arrives, connect to it with just a couple of taps, as opposed to the endless dialing required by many other services.

SoundTracking (Free)

Broadcast your music moments with this app. It will identify a song playing and let you share it over Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare along with a snippet of the tune for others to enjoy, a photo, and, if you like, a geo-location.

What’s cool? Using Rdio or Spotify, you and others can listen to the entire track. Or, if you’re thinking of a specific song search for it in SoundTracking’s massive track database and post it. And, on Foursquare, go ahead and check-in along with a song.

Swisscom Ski Challenge 12 (Free)

Go fast or go home! This downhill ski racing game is as realistic as it gets, with detailed renderings of six of the most dangerous runs in the sport: Beaver Creek, Val'd Isere, Gröden, Bormio, Wengen and Kitzbühe.

Ski against others online for the fastest time, but first you must qualify with a respectable time in the pre-race time trials just like real-life competitions. Practice, practice, practice on training runs until you build up enough nerve to race for gold.
