Fresh Android Apps for Oct. 27: Fandango Movies for Tablets, GO Locker, SHADOWGUN

by Ian Black

Just like when Emeril Lagasse “kicks it up a notch”, Madfinger Games throws down with one of the most intense action games ever to land on an Android screen. It’s called SHADOWGUN and the creators say it’s just the first installment in a new raucous franchise. Strap yourselves down.

Movie lovers will enjoy Fandango Movies for Tablets and personalization fans should try GO Locker.

Fandango Movies for Tablets (Free)

Fandango makes its big screen debut – a tablet screen that is. The popular movie app for Android phones delivers an Android tablet version that takes advantage of the extra space.

Browse through movies – pages filled with small versions of movie posters – sorted by popularity, release date, genre, fan rating, critic rating, IMAX or 3D. Then select a film and view a description, photos, trailers, cast info, Tweets and a list of local theaters and movie times. Buy your tickets by tapping the small ticket stub which displays the movie time you want.

GO Locker (Free)

Think the lock screen of your Android is off limits to customization? Think again.

Take control of the idle screen with GO Locker. Choose from a variety of wallpaper and themes and if you don’t see anything you like, jump to the GO store to browse for more options.

Settings let you modify the sound associated with unlock, the look of the notifications for missed calls, new texts, and email and more. If needed, set an emergency unlock that activates via a long press on the volume button. You'll need GO Launcher Ex installed before using GO Locker.

Ready to live out your own sci-fi action adventure movie? Armor up as John Slade – an intergalactic bounty hunter – and pursue criminal genius Dr. Edgar Simon in his mountain fortress. It seems that the mad doctor has bred his own genetically-altered mutant army and he needs to be captured dead or alive.

Expect gorgeous 3D graphics, detailed set pieces, immersive action, and over-the-top violence. The rave reviews are already in and they say bring your energy drink, eye protection, and your high-end Android device.
