Wikitude is a location aware Wikipedia app for the Android platform. What this app does is populate a map with markers for Wikipedia entries once you allow it to locate you or the area you'd like it to focus on. These entries can range from basic town centered Wikipedia entries to more interesting tourist based information.
We tested this app by pulling up the information around our location. You can see that there are a lot of entries nearby, with most of them being town focused. There are a lot to sort through, but some of them actually include pictures geo-tagged through panoramio. This can make finding a new place kind of interesting.
When you open up an entry, you're presented with the Wikipedia information formatted for this app. The information is pretty easy to read and spread out over the screen so you don't have to scroll around to read each line. If you select any of the links in the article, the web browser will launch and load it up in that fashion.
If you're looking to find out more information about where you're located and the area around it, this app is definitely handy. If you spend some time with it, you'll probably find out information that you never knew about that area.
