Translate is a simple app for the Android platform that allows you to translate directly from one language to another. This app uses the Google translation service as its backbone. The app developers brag that there are over 150 different language pairs that the service can translate to instead of simply saying there are 20 different languages to choose from.
The different languages it can translate to or from include: Bulgarian, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Croatian, Czech, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
The left side drop down lets you select which language you want to translate from while the right side shows the final language you want your text to be. All you need to do is type out your message in the box up top, press translate, and read your finished product. If you’d like to, you can click the trackball in the bottom box to copy the entire message for use elsewhere.
This app is definitely handy if you find yourself trying to communicate in multiple different languages. It’s also pretty handy for learning as it has a random word feature. Plus you can also read through your translation history if you need to refer back to a specific word or phrase somewhere down the line.
