SplashPlay is an app for the Android platform that teaches you how to play guitar. That is, if you purchase the add-on device. The concept is fairly interesting and offers some cool features, but most of the enjoyment of the app is lost without the additional equipment.
What you do is you open or upload a song to SplashPlay and then play it. This will display the finger positions on your Android phone for you to view. If you have the additional equipment, you can transmit the information over to it and gain full benefit from this app.
The SplashPod is a little sheet that goes under the strings on your guitar and lights up in the same places that your Android phone screen displays a dot. This shows you exactly where to put your finger and makes learning a specific song fairly easy.
The concept behind SplashPlay is really cool, but the need to buy hardware to enjoy it makes it that much less appealing. Also, learning to play an instrument in this fashion doesn't really teach you music theory, so unless you just want to learn specific songs and struggle through the rest, it's best to avoid this app.
