SUMMARY: A notepad that speaks out what you type

Check out appoLearning.com, because your kids deserve the very best educational apps!

SpeakingPad is an app for the Android platform that allows you to type your notes onto your device and have them read back to you. This app is very simple and requires the text to speech pack be installed on your device.

When you load up the app, you’ll be brought to a blank screen. Here you can start typing what you want the app to read out to you. Unfortunately, whatever you write here won’t be saved by the app in any way, so don’t expect to use this app as anything more than to hear your words repeated back to you in an electronic voice.

There are three settings that you can manipulate by pressing menu then settings. The first will let you configure the app to repeat each word as you type it. The second will clear out the text box when you press speak. Both of these can be toggled on or off. The third setting just lets you manipulate the rate of speech.

This app is pretty simple and straight forward. It’s neat to mess around with, but with a lack of save functionality, it’s more like a whiteboard as things get erased and you can’t really take it with you. It’s a cool app that’s worth trying out, but it’s nothing special overall.
