The browser on Android phones works pretty well but there isn't anything about it that makes it special or user-friendly. Opera Mini 5 is the latest browser offered for Android devices that attempts to turn the phones into blazing fast internet machines. The browser has been custom designed to specifically take advantage of the device's touchscreen.
Users familiar with the Opera browser for PCs will immediately recognize the browser's homescreen. It offers quick links to the user's favorite sites. The controls to the browser are located on the bottom of the screen and can be set to stay on the screen or require a button press to activate. Multiple pages can be opened and saved for later viewing as well. The browser's speed is definitely something worth noting. Pages loaded much faster through the browser as compared my Nexus One's default browser. This was an awesome change and this feature alone made me want to switch for good. The entire browser experience is extremely snappy and really brings a brand new light to mobile browsing on Android devices.
Overall, it is obvious a lot of thought has been put into this new browser and it really brings a great experience. It's available for free in the Android Market so definitely check it out.
