LocalSpin is an interesting app for the Android platform that allows you to find new things to do in your area. The app is very simple and easy to use, but it may not be enough for the indecisive Android user to rely on for all their decisions.
The main screen of the app has a few different areas that you should pay attention to. At the top, you’ll see an enter location area. No matter what you decide to search for, make sure you fill out this area first or the rest of your results will wind up being from anywhere in the country. You can leave just that field with information in it and search for local events if you’d like, or you can search local listings as well by entering in another keyword to look for in the field below. LocalSpin also offers information on the top movies out at this point if you’d like to see that, or you can also make your own list if you’re having trouble making a decision.
After you’ve decided what you want to search for, select it and head on over to the spinning wheel. This is where you’ll see a wheel with 12 different options on it. Each option has a title and short description, plus a link to the website that corresponds to it. Pressing the center button will launch the website once the app has stopped, making it easy for you to go with what the wheel has landed on. Unfortunately if there’s something else that catches your eye, the wheel isn’t the easiest thing to control, so you’ll most likely run into some issue lining it up so you can read the info and view the website.
Unfortunately this app needs a good deal of work. First off, we’re dealing with information on a local level on an app that’s suppose to help us find something to do. If you spin the wheel for a local event, it could be multiple weeks away, which doesn’t really help you right now. That and the fact that the wheel is kind of clunky make this app something that does need some more work and more data before you’ll truly enjoy it. It’s worth checking out as you’ll probably find at least one cool thing to do this with by using this app.
