IM+ is a multi-service chat client for the Android platform. This app expands upon the basic four options that Android allows you to use for IM as a default by adding in support for Jabber, ICQ, and MySpace on top of AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, and Google Talk.
The first thing that you need to know about this app is that it is only a 7 day free trial. After that, you'll have to pay to keep using it. This may be a turn off for many people as you have to purchase the license directly from the developer’s site.
When you log into the app, you'll need to set up which accounts you want to use. After you do that, you can set a message along with a status. Even on AIM you don't show up as being on a mobile device. If you want, you can set the app to sign you on automatically whenever you open it.
IM+ runs in the background and will tell you that you have a new message in your notifications area. It won't tell you any more information unfortunately. A few other issues with this app is that the newest message in a conversation shows up at the top of the screen and not the bottom like most instant messaging clients. Pressing enter won’t send a message either, you’ll have to hit the arrow next to your message. Also, the only place you'll see the other users name is at the top of the window, not next to their message. If you use Jabber, ICQ, or MySpace chat, then check this app out. If not, stick with the default Android one for now.
