Google is definitely the king of search and it comes as no surprise that they continue to innovate and build on their already huge empire. It all started out with text search, then they moved to the now famous voice search. But Google's latest project is set to top them all. Google Goggles is an app available only on Android phones that allows users to take a picture of something and instantly get results from the internet on the object.
It only works on certain things at the moment like books, CDs, movies, and other materials. It tends to struggle with things like food, people and other objects that can vary. The app is very straight forward. The users just takes a picture of the object they want results from and the app immediately scans it and gives the closest result. For things like books, the app will find prices, reviews and relative links that may help the user learn more about what type of book it is.
Overall, the app worked pretty well but still struggled with a lot of entries. It's available in the Android Market for free like most Google Products so I definitely recommend checking it out and giving it a test run. It is definitely one of the technologies of the future provided Google can develop it a little more.
