Google Earth has now been released for Android 2.1 phones and is even better than the iPhone version. This new app offers all the same features one would expect on a mobile device. Users can zoom in and out using multitouch, find their location using gps, search for any location in the world, and even change views and look at the horizon.
Google Earth for Android also includes a feature that can only be found on Android phones which is the added Roads layer. This new layer offers an instant look into the local roads in the area being viewed and makes browsing much easier. The app ran pretty smooth on my Nexus One but it wasn't without some lag. Every now and then it would take a section noticeably longer to load than the rest which threw off the experience. But for what it is doing, I really shouldn't be complaining at all.
Overall the app is a ton of fun to play through and will definitely contribute to your poor battery life. The app is available in the Android Market for free so grab it and try it out. It is a great addition to any Android 2.1 phone.
