SUMMARY: An Android specific social networking app

Check out, because your kids deserve the very best educational apps!

GFindster is an app that allows you to easily connect to other users of this app to chat. This app is exclusive to the Android platform, so unfortunately there aren’t a lot of people using the app at this point.

The main screen of the app offers up three different tabs: Friends around Me, Business around Me, and Entertainment around Me. At the time of this review, only Friends around Me was accessible. Tapping on either of the other two options produced a message that informed us that it was under development. Before you can even use the only button available, you’ll have to tap the connect button down bottom. Once you’re connected, the preferences screen will launch.

In the preferences screen you’ll be presented with an area to enter in your chat name, your lag time, and the ability to check for local chat or worldwide chat. It doesn’t allow you to view both chats, so you’ll have to choose only one. To exit this area, you’ll have to put your phone back into portrait mode and press save. Once you’re back on the main screen you. Press the Friends around Me button to enter the map view. If you’re on local and there are people around you, you’ll see them on the map. To enter into chat mode, press menu and select chat. Here you’ll be able to just type freely to the rest of the world or your local area.

GFindster seems like it should have been held back a few more weeks before releasing this app. With only 1/3rd of its features being available at launch, and it being exclusive to the Android platform, there’s not a lot you can do with it at this point. Hopefully it will grow in the future, but this weak start might turn a lot of users off.
