Utilities » Fusion Visual Voicemail Review Write review

Fusion Visual Voicemail is an app for the Android platform that allows you to not only receive visual voicemail alerts but also route phone numbers voicemail to one line. This app has a lot of potential, especially considering it’s free. Unfortunately, during this review we couldn’t get it to work at all.

When you load up the app for the first time, you’ll need to complete the registration process. This is very easy and launches in through the browser. Once you register, you’ll be able to add additional phone numbers that you’d like routed to this visual voicemail account as well. You may need to set some of the phones to call forwarding for this to work.

After that, your phone should be all set. To get things in gear you just need to receive your first voicemail. After many attempts at this stage, even through routed calls, we couldn’t get the app to recognize that we had a voicemail. The video demonstration on the website shows the voicemails from all calls being routed over immediately, but even after waiting two hours, the voicemails still didn’t transfer over from the standard interface to the app.

If this app worked like the video demonstration did, it would be one of the best apps available for the Android platform. The ability to see the voicemails for all your different phone numbers makes this app very useful for those of us with multiple phone lines. That is, if it works.

The setup took about 15-20min best if you are at a computer so you can setup the web portion of it, and be able to read the directions while setting up your phone. This app should be very good until the Google one catches up. I don't know that I'd pay a monthly fee for this though most likely a one time fee would be worth it.

Good: It works! After some very specific instruction reading, it works. Color coded, app driven visual voicemail.

Bad: It doesn't always download the message (paritially or in full) and may not ever until a full reboot of the phone. Also, for every voicemail I would get a text message. But not just one, multiple for each voicemail until I deleted them from my queue.

Final Thoughts: It is a nice idea, and after previously having an iPhone and switching to anything else, I miss my visual voicemail. However this is far too cumbersome to manage so in the end I deleted it. My suggestion to anyone is before you go through the manual steps of sending your voicemail to Fusion's preset numbers, to go and copy your own numbers down for your own records as a "just in case I don't like it" precaution". It needs work both functionally and on the interface before I will ever consider downloading it again.

I think the idea of this app is great, but like the individual who did this review, I was also not able to get this app to work properly.

Old reviews don't help anyone.  Things change and the reviews here are all very old and dealt with the first few versions of the application.

It's much better now and has a lot more features and is VERY useful.  It should be standard with the phone!
