Review for ScoreCenter for Android

APPOLICIOUS ADVISOR RATING:

3 of 5 bars
  • PRICE: Free
  • TASTY: All kinds of scores and recaps from all the games in all the major sports leagues, including college football.
  • BUMMER: Kind of ugly and even a bit twitchy on tablets.
  • COOL: Track your favorite teams; quickly find game recaps and stats.

ESPN ScoreCenter ensures quick score and news updates, but an ugly, somewhat twitchy presentation mars the experience on Android tablets.

ESPN strives to be a leader in sports, and if you want to keep track of everything going on in your favorite leagues and teams, ScoreCenter will keep you in the loop. It’s filled with information stacked page by page, showing you every game for each week, and providing links to read recaps and see stats from each. You can also create a custom tab to follow your favorite professional and college teams.

But navigating the app, while not difficult, is a little rough. Pages are slow to respond and nothing feels as fluid as it should. ScoreCenter packs a lot onto the screen and thus it’s a bit tough to read.

ESPN’s app is free and it’ll get you the sports information you need. Just note that it’s not the best presentation on Android tablets.
