APPOLICIOUS ADVISOR RATING:

5 of 5 bars
  • PRICE: Free
  • TASTY: Spice up your supper plans when you spin for your dinner.
  • BUMMER: The only drawback to this app is the tendency to overeat.
  • COOL: Free access to more than 40,000 delicious recipes.

Whether you're a busy working woman who fancies herself as the next Rachael Ray, or a frazzled stay-at-home dad who dabbles in the kitchen, you'll love the more than 40,000 tried-and-true recipes available free in the Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner app for Android. This cooking app's main feature is the trademarked "Dinner Spinner." This feature allows you to pick from the type of dish, ingredients and how long you have to cook in order to pick the perfect recipe. It's like a slot machine: Spin for your dinner!

For instance, I was looking for a side dish, including meat, that I could put together in a slow cooker. In a matter of second, the "Dinner Spinner" handed me 12 matching recipes that I could throw together for dinner, including hearty wild rice, pineapple baked beans and Thai-style brisket. I'm so hungry now!

You can also simply use the search function to find and favorite recipes in the app. It even allows you to filter by dietary restrictions, such as vegan, no wheat, low carbs and many more. Browse through featured recipes, which in March contained mostly Irish-themed dishes for St. Patrick's Day, or log-in with Facebook and Twitter to easily share your favorite dishes online.

Coming soon to the Android marketplace is the Dinner Spinner Pro app, with way more functions and features from Allrecipes.com.
