  • App review for Gowalla

Gowalla makes the most of the game part of location-based services in this app. It's colorful and plays well with Facebook and Twitter. However, there are a number of bugs in the Android version, the most prominent of which is in the ability to drop and pick up items (part of the game). It doesn't always work, and that's a common gripe on the Gowalla forums. Still, it's fun to play with and is a nice alternative to the more minimalistic Foursquare.

Check!

  • App review for Foursquare

I first started using Foursquare just to try out this app. It's easy and has simple processes for adding venues and checking in. My only gripe is that you have to check for friend requests manually - there's no alert bubble or anything. That should be a no-brainer. Fix that and this gets a 5-bar rating.

Fantastic Photo App

The slideshow widget is great! It puts a picture frame on my home screen and cycles through the photos on my phone. Every time I look at my home screen there's a different photo of the kids, vacations, everything I like! I LOVE this app!

Addictive!

One of the best games on Android! It's like a cross between a tycoon game and a tower defense. Delicious!

TD Ameritrade

If you trade stocks with TD Ameritrade, then you already know what this is. Though it can be used just to watch the stock market, it is truly intended for those who trade stocks and options via TD Ameritrade. And in that regard this is the best trading app I've ever used. And I've traded with 4 different brokerages.

Much nicer than stock SMS

This is a highly customizable SMS app. You can change the appearance, fonts, and even the background. It's a must have.

Perfection! A must have

This is subscription music with a twist. It's cloud based. Listen to all the music you want from all the major labels. Create playlists. Sync albums and playlists to your android over the air. No physical syncing is ever required.

Podcast Nirvana

If you love podcasts as much as I do, but hate to sync with a PC or Mac, this is for you. Get all your Podcasts directly from their source. No middle man. Easy to set up schedules and profiles for downloading, such as only down on WiFi, or when plugged in for charging. This is excellent software.

similar to BeJeweled

If you are looking for BeJeweled type action that is fast, this is it. Feels better than BeJeweled on Android. Since we are missing BeJeweled 2 and Blitz, I was looking for something a little faster and more exciting. This is that app.

Google Tasks

This app fills in the gap left by Android's baseline apps. We already get GMail and Calendar, but Google Tasks are missing. This app files that voice. It's syncing is instant. Couldn't live without it.

Need this app

Android has no support for WAV format audio, which is what my business voice mail uses when sending me an email copy of my voice mail. This little gem allows me to listen to my emailed voice mail.

Awesome!

I downloaded this and ROM Buddy. Finding all kinds of SNES games to play. So much fun, definitely worth the money!

Not as good as the iPhone App

Android has a huge market share. The App Developers really need to make this as seamlessly functional as the iPhone app. This is almost an android deal breaker for me. Some links in the app take you to the mobile Facebook page. ugh...

No Distractions Helps Us Focus

  • App review for Meeting Mute Widget

With Meeting Mute Widget, my phone doesn't ring when I'm in a meeting any more. It checks my calendar and mutes the phone when I'm in an appointment or meeting. I love it!

I liked the widget but it sucks too much battery

The twitter client was fairly standard. I liked the option of the widget but it sucked too much battery. Seesmic was constantly in my top 5 battery drains even when I didn't use it.

Fun distraction but unreliable

  • App review for Foursquare

Foursquare is a fun distraction but the app doesn't keep up to where I am. I'm constantly am having to refresh the location, frequently it's wrong or the servers are overloaded. Overall disappointing and kills the fun when it doesn't work.

Awesome video player

Rockplayer has played every video I can throw at it on my nexus one. Even 720p .mkv and it looks beautiful. No need to convert to a lessor format. Occasional audio sync problems but other than that perfect.
