Android App User Reviews

Control what starts and what doesnt

Price: free

Pros: you will be surprised at how many apps start up when your phone starts. This app will let you take control of this. Not all the apps have to run at start-up. You may even save some battery life depending on what apps are running.

Cons: None

Two bars is a gift

I could only get this app to run long enough to get an idea of what the programmer was intending. I think there is potentential in the interface, but much work to be done on stability. Visual Task Scheduler is a better option at this time. "This Time" being November 2010.

Graphics need work

I think this should be a beta. The physics are quite good and game play is good as well, for what it is. Now, skin everything with nice flashy graphics, and you may have something you can charge a buck or two for.

Love it. I tested this against my Magellen GPS stand alone unit, and my Phone GPS called MotoNav made by Motorolla. The beta of this software gave better directions than either of the other options. Add to that the choice of the overlays you want, and street view coming up close to a destination so you actually have a visual reference to where your going, AND ITS FREE WITH NO COST TO UPDATE MAPS, this is great and will only get better.

Does what it says and is stable

This app gives the ability to go from app to app in few clicks by showing you thumbnails of up to 9 apps on the screen when you push the Home button. I notice there are some requests for extra functionality by users, but I give a 5 because it does what it says, it looks decent doing it, and I've had zero issues with the program. I don't notice any hit to the battery. What good is multi-tasking phone if you can't change quickly between the apps.

Secure apps when phone is unlocked

Price: free trial for 7 days/ $1. 99

Pros: password protect your individual apps while your phone is unlocked. I have a rooted phone and I don't need someone running my root apps without me knowing about it. I also don't want someone just going through my photos or changing my phone settings. I don't lock my phone because if I loose it, soembody can actually use it to call me using my contact information, but they can't get to my other apps that are protected. It allows for visual password, so it only takes second to have access to your app.

Cons: none that I can see. The price is very reasonable in my opinion.

Sign me up!

Free ringtone makers will always get automatic 5s from me. I don't think anyone should have to pay for creating ringtones for their phone...ever.

A novelty app

Bounce the ball off of things. You're better off buying a bouncy ball, because there are more possibilities. Plus, what's the point of playing with a rubber ball without needing to chase it all over?

A pox on all your Androids!

Not really. This app doesn't come with malware installed on it, but it will equip you with clever barbs that will make any dimwit scratch his/her head.

Simple but solid

When it comes to chess games, crisp animation doesn't need to be a factor in playability. I am sold on a game like this as long as it responds to my taps.

A diamond in the ruff

Why does this game rock? The limited amount of visible screen adds an element of realism to this discovery game. It's cute and quite fun.

It's ok...

This game is pretty basic, as in it doesn't really add much to the classic Pong game. This one proves that slapping '3D' onto a game doesn't make it better.

useful clock

Price: free

pros: this app is more than just a clock. It also displays the day, date, weather, memory used, free memory, battery tempature, available SD, and battery charge. You can also select any app to open when you tap on the hour/minutes. I have mine open Alarmdroid but you can have any app open.

Cons: I find it a bit slow loading after rebooting my phone. How often does a person reboot anyways.

Works as advertised, nothing more, nothing much. You get the location using GPS (not coarse) and you send a standard text msg to a contact from your addressbook.

Items I miss;
- type a # instead of using the addressbook
- Use coarse and select a close by address
- Ability to send a different standard text
- Send via email

Nice app but has limited functionality. Displays the quotes on a black background and that is about. You can't share them or save your favorites. Add those features and it will be a definite winner

Editing on the go

One of the best on the go photo editors. PicSay is great and worth the money. The Dev releases some new image packs every so often. After you have edited a photo you can easily share it or store it on your phone.

A must have when you take a lot of photos on the go!

Not working..

I guess the idea would be nice but unfortunately the app is not working on my Nexus One 2.2 (Froyo).

I open it, see the paper with the title and then it goes to a blackscreen.

Mobile tourist guide to Canada

So you've arrived in Canada. What next? This app has tours based on your province, city, and what kinds of tourism you're into. I definitely can vouch that the Toronto 'Fun' tour hits all the major amusing if typical activities/sites in the city and surrounding areas.

Nice in theory

This app tells you what kind of wait you can expect at the border should you decide to drive to Canada from the US. It can't tell you what's happening at any given time, but it predicts, based on previous wait times, what your wait time is likely to be in the next 8 hours. It can also detect what the closest border crossing is to you, and it can let you pick which one you prefer. Still, it can't guarantee you're not going to hit traffic due to an unpredictable event at the border, so your common sense or blind faith might serve you better.
