Android App User Reviews

Best twitter app

This is the best twitter app around. It is jam packed with features one of them is the live preview mode which enables you to hold the device in landscape and the content of the links is automatically displayed. Just recently they added new features like "mute" which allows you to mute a specific user for a period of time without having to unfollow them.

Well worth the money if you go PRO!

Tweeting the official way

  • App review for Twitter

The official twitter applications. Provides you the basic functionalities but is many killer features that other apps do have. Nice to give it a try but not worth using it all the time. The only reason why I still have it is that it syncs the contact details and with that provides you a status update in the address book of the contacts using twitter.

It is raining?

This app will show the weather of the Netherlands including satellite images. It can not predict the weather of course but it does give you a good idea of where the clouds are. It even provides traffic information.

From time to time I have the feeling it takes very long to download the images that show you where the clouds are which sometimes can get annoying.

What's on TV?

**Dutch users only**
Nice app that shows what is on TV. You can set a list of channels you want it to display and how many days you want to download the data ahead of time.

Nicest feature is that you can set reminders and even plug it into your agenda to know when a show is up. The latest feature is the sharing which allows you to send it to twitter and tell people what you are watching!

Track flights and get direct updates on whether a flight has been delayed or changes. You can easily search for a flight and add it to your track-list. A map can even show you where the plane is flying so you know exactly when to look up and wave.

For people who travel often or have spouse which travels often, this is a great app to have!

Amazing app that works perfectly with the website. When you download the app, you do need to have a plan if you want to keep using it. All actions you can take on the RTM website, you can also do in this app. The app is stable, can set reminders and even use the location of your device to trigger and show reminders.

For the real GTD-people, this is a must have app!

Video/Image sharing

  • App review for Moby

This app helps you share content to the moby network. You can share video, audio and images. Either record it from within the app or select stuff from within the gallery.

Moby even adds location data if not already added and tags that will be used on the moby sites.

Moby itself can then forward your content to sites like flickr, youtube etc. For the real sharer, this app is a must!

Hooooooot

Great social network tool. HootSuite syncs perfectly with the webapp and allows you to reply to tweets and facebook. The columns you create on the webapp will also show up on the android app. The last updates added great stability to the app and they even made it free! If you are new to the game this app is great to try.

HootSuite is in my top 3 twitter apps!

How much data?

  • App review for NetSentry

Got a plan with limited data? Use this app to measure the amount of data that passes specific interfaces and get notified when you are reaching your limit.

The app is limited in features but does the trick. One caveat is that you have to manually launch the app in order for it to measure the usage. It would be better if they could improve that!

Mashable on your phone

  • App review for Mashable!
  • Posted by arvid November 10, 2010
  • Recommended for News Junkies or Tech/Social Networking Junkies

Tired of going to their mobile webpage or reading their RSS? Get the Mashable app and download the articles to your device for easy navigation. I am missing two features; offline reading (prefetching) and commenting from within the app. Add those and the app just gets better. What I don't like is how the apps lets you share the content. Better to use the intents of the Android OS to pass on URL and title information

Where was I?

  • App review for Foursquare
  • Posted by arvid November 10, 2010
  • Recommended for Road Warriors or Tech/Social Networking Junkies

Foursquare is the Android app for the website. It allows you to easy checkin and even do a shoutout to your friends. See where you are friends are or who just checked in as well all from the app.

I did notice that sometimes it has some difficulties in locating you and next to that, the My Favorites are quite often not my favorites (didn't even check in into those venues)

Doing some grocery shopping

** Dutch app**

This app is amazing when you go shopping at Albert Heijn. It allows you to track your shopping in a nice list. When it knows the store it can even sort your shopping in such a way you can just walk one route.

It even contains additional information on recipes and extra news about AH.

Offline copies of webpages

  • App review for Paperdroid Pro

This app used to work great but since 2.2 the app doesn't work anymore. Prior to 2.2, you could easily save webpages offline or read starred items of Google Reader. It allowed me to store webpages offline and read them while I was on the train or subway.

Please be psychic

I was gonna give the app 4 bars because it doesn't recongnize all the apps I have had and removed. Is it fair to penalize the app for not being psychic?
