Iris seemed like the coolest looking app from all the ones I downloaded on my search for the best Siri-like application for the Android OS.
Looks can be deceiving however and this app is really only worth a good laugh.
When I asked Iris to "send a text message to FirstName, good morning!" it went through the motions correctly and got the whom and what I was trying to send correctly but no matter who I sent a text to I got an error "Error 0: Bad number" even thought the number was correct for the contact. While the text showed up in my sent messages correctly it never did reach it's intended audience. I tried this with multiple contacts with no success.
The second test I did was to ask Iris for "Directions to the nearest Starbuck" and this is where it got interesting. Now you'd expect that it would open maps and try to send me some place poorly phrased or maybe even to the nearest Starbucks as intended. Nope, it flat out asked me "Why do you want it?" Uhm.... excuse me? So I replied "because I want coffee" and it replied "no."
So I guess I don't get coffee today because my AI Personal Assistant wants me to suffer..
Needless to say, this application has some flaws and unless you're into being told what to do, you should maybe try out on of the other apps on the market until this one has a conversation with an exorcist.
