My fave time waster

Oh my goodness! How much time have I spent playing this game? Too many to count, that is for sure. I love the customization options - particularly the difficulty and length of game play - and the beautiful game appearance. Too many word game apps are bare-bones and just plain ugly. My one issue with this game is the dictionaries are missing a plethora of legitimate words. I mean, c'mon developers, but "wan" is a real word. Look it up!

Still, any one who enjoys word games should definitely download WordUp!

Cute

Fun little physics/puzzle game with a nice cartoon style. More levels keep being released, so that makes it very playable.

boing boing boing

I like this version of Abduction the best. It's a simple platform game where you bounce your way to the top using the accelerometer in your phone. I don't like the sequel as much as the original.

Chess for Android

What's special about this game is that it keeps a log of every move made by you and the computer from beginning to the end. You can really improve your chess game by going over how the game unfolded. Excellent! Just fyi, I don't think you can play two-player.

X Construction Lite

Design a bridge. If you design it correctly, all of the passengers survive. If you do not, then consider it an exercise in construction.

Slice It!

This is an O.K. game for kids where you slice shapes into fractions. For example, it tells you to slice the triangle two times and then it gives you the percentage of each piece. You don't have to slice evenly. Just follow the directions to continue advancing through the levels.

Solitaire

This is an excellent app if you already know how to play solitaire. If you don't, you will need to start with an app that gives you directions and hints.

Glow Hockey

This is one of my favorite air hockey apps for Android. I think the neon board makes it easier to see the puck. And the computer on the "insane" level makes a worthy opponent. Enjoy!

Triple Word Score

  • App review for Wordfeud FREE

Wordfeud is highly addictive, especially with people you know.

True story - I was at a birthday dinner for a friend and was telling my sister about Wordfeud. She downloaded the app at the restaurant and challenged me to a game. Then I got another request from someone else at the dinner table. Since I was already engaged in a heated Wordfeud battle with my wife, 5 of the 10 people at the table all started playing the game with each other. It was crazy.

Now we all just replay each other over and over again.

Hot Poker

Zynga Poker is a great way to play Texas Hold Em' on your mobile device. The app lets you log in using your Facebook account and automatically displays your current FB profile pic.

Before you play online, you are given "chips" to use in order to join tables. After you select the setting that is right for your skill level, you can join in a game and try your luck against other players.

Zynga poker also has a "Help" section in the settings table that will show you the Hand Rankings for a standard game if you are unfamiliar with how to identify a winning combinations of cards.

Cross the bridge!

Entertaining game in which you have to build bridge to help a train cross a canyon. Amazing how the dev uses 'gravity' to have the train also bend the bridge. It was rather difficult at the beginning to understand how you should really build the bridge but as soon as you get the hang off it, it gets easier.
